Blogging to the Bank 2.0 Review

People have been using blogs as means of making a bit of money now for some time. This is done by creating a blog, putting some adsense or affiliate links on it, and regularly updating it. It is generally thought that blogs appeal more to the search engines, perhaps because they are regularly updated. This search engine friendliness is what makes the blog attractive to internet marketers.

So anyway, what about this Blogging to the Bank 2.0? Well, it was written by a guy called Rob Benwell, who wrote the original Blogging to the Bank (which I haven’t read). Apparently the techniques used in the original book have become outdated, and Rob explains in Blogging to the Bank 2.0 how he came to update his methods. Rob tells us about the 5 blogging commandments, which basically tell us the 5 pillars that a blog should have in order to get organic traffic. There are no ‘black hat’ methods used here; everything Rob talks about is geared towards long-term blogs which will hopefully rake in the money.

This book would probably not interest the experienced professional blogger, but for the relatively inexperienced person trying to make a bit of money from blogs, this would make an excellent investment. Rob details (with screen shots) the process he himself follows when creating a blog. He shows how to set up web hosting, how to activate Wordpress, and how to create a monetised blog. Rob also goes through the steps of identifying a niche within which to create the blog.

The section I liked the most was the one entitled ‘Optimising your Blog’. There’s a ton of info here, all aimed at making your blog score well in the search engine rankings. This info could also be utilised for non-blog websites too…

From reading Blogging to the Bank 2.0, it is fairly obvious that Rob Benwell is a very experienced blogger, and he shares a lot of his tips and technical knowledge in this book. I would recommend this for relative newcomers to the monetised blogging game - it is pretty much a step-by-step manual for making money through blogs. For more experienced bloggers, there may be the odd bit of useful info.
