1. Market research. Before starting your own home based business, try to find out first what products or services are in demand. Compare the different possible home based business you can get into. List down the top ten in demand products and services and compare them with your inclination later on. Business you love doing is a business you’ll most likely succeed.

2. Business planning. Plan how you want to go about your home based business. Record what you need, from the small place you’ll use to equipment you’ll need for business. This also includes the list of your prospective buyers.

3. Delivery of plans. Put your plans in action. This requires determination, focus and time management on your side. Follow the course of business actions you planned.

4. Advertising. Don’t wait for customers to go to you. Instead, approach them through good advertising. Leaflets, brochures, online advertising etc. could be used, but will require small investments. Don’t count what you need to spend on this; instead, think of how much income you could generate through proper advertising.

5. Updating. As your business grows, update your customers with changes, new products and services and product’s upgrades. Send them newsletters, email, or set up your own autoresponders.

6. Take care of your customers. Your customers will also be the backbone of your business. Learn how to take good care of them by providing great customer service and delivering great products. Doing this can increase your customer base in no time.
